Little Known Facts about Serengeti National Park

For travelers wishing to visit the Serengeti National Park, there are 3 most common ways to reach it. Most people access the National Park from the Arusha Airport or the Kilimanjaro International Airport.

However, what is often overlooked is that you can also arrive via Mwanza and other lake zone regions. This region tends to be closer to the western corridor of the Serengeti. It is only a 2 hours drive away from the city of Mwanza. Comparatively, a drive from Arusha takes about 8 hours.

A lot of people visiting Mwanza are not aware that Serengeti National Park is nearby. You can access the park from Mwanza through the Ndabaka gate. You can also access the national park from other lake zone areas such as Mugumu via the Tabora B gate.

From Mwanza, a traveler can take a flight or car to access the national park. There are flights to the park operated by several flight companies such as Coastal Aviation and Auric Air. If you are already in Mwanza, you can take advantage and visit one of the top national parks in Africa.

Apart from a game drive in the Western corridor, you can also try our half-day balloon safari. We operate via camps through our Kogatende, Seronera, or Kirawira bases.

Different animals and plants that form an important part of the Serengeti National park eco system

There has been ongoing confusion about whether Serengeti is in Tanzania or Kenya. The answer is yes or no, depending on whether you are referring to the park itself or the ecosystem in general.

To put it simply, Serengeti National Park is in Tanzania. The Serengeti ecosystem, however, is found in both Tanzania and Kenya. So, you can say that Serengeti is also in Kenya in that optic.

The Serengeti ecosystem consists of Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Maasai Mara, and Grumeti National Reserves, the Maswa Reserve, and the controlled areas of Ikorongo and Loliondo.

The Serengeti ecosystem is a collection of protected areas and community land hosting one of the largest mammal migrations in the world. Every year, wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles migrate from Ngorongoro through Serengeti National Park and head north towards the Masai Mara reserve in Kenya.

It is a sight to behold for many tourists visiting the park. We offer the best seat in the house to enjoy the great migration.
